Walther PDP Steel Frame

With the initial price tag of $1900, I'll wait on this one, may save up for a JP-5 PCC. I have 2 CZs that are very, very solid. A Shadow 2 Optic Ready that I have worked on and a CTS LS-P I also worked on. The Walther PDP SF will be hard pressed to rival these two hammer fired guns. At that initial price, a 2011 appears on the radar. Time will tell.

I'm just curious why you sold your Canik Rival S's? (I don't disagree, just curious) My PDP has been 100% reliable since day one. My Rival S was a POS. I didn't trust it after many issues (Unrelated to mag over insertion. That was not the issue) Tons of feeding issues. Walther for me is absolutely reliable, accurate and more refined. The new Steel frame has my attention as a possible USPSA option and a cool range gun.
They both started having feeding issues even with new springs. I had to tune the mags to get them to run. The ultra short throat in the barrel was a pain too. Now they are changing the design and from what I hear won't be available for 8-12 months. Even though I got them to run, parts are scarce to none. It was time to get them gone.
I had a Q5 SF but the frame was too small so I sold it. Now that the PDP SF frame is full size, I'll get one. I have three PDP polys and like them. I know I stated I would wait but I've changed my mind!

I had a stock alert for a Steel frame from GalleryofGuns yesterday. I didn't act on it (on purpose) and within 2 hours all stock was gone. They are coming and hopefully by the end of summer the prices will come down to a more reasonable level.

The DPT and sear being a package is what has lured me to this gun. Now knowing it doesn't have the final performance enhancement (sear housing) makes me hesitant about purchasing one. Bad Walther, bad move.

Behind where the dimple is, you will be able to see the screw head. A long time ago, Lanzer was doing this mod. Fun on the workbench

On the stock PDP sear, you will see a hole and be able to see through it.

And finally, I ORDERED MY SF!!
I can swap sears around to see what I like the best.

Fantastic! Do you plan to run any type of break in ammo or just what you have? With the super heavy recoil springs in the Rivals, I ran 200-300 rounds of 124 NATO ammo to loosen things up. 100% with anything after that pounding!

Copy that. I've ordered a RHT holster for the SF.
I was able to install the extended mag release on my 4.5 Pro and really like it. I have another one and it will go on the SF.
Appreciate the help and feedback!

Thank you AIRBORNE!!
I have all of my testing parts laid aside ready to rumble! A friend of mine is also getting his this week and we will be testing a lot of stuff side by side. Sorry to tell, but I have my own range on the property.
Coming from the Canik Rival S camp (both are sold), this is the gun I've been waiting for!
Thanks!!

The Canik grip is a bit more rounded at the back and fills the hand slightly better. Caniks are P99 clones.
Canik somehow managed to make the trigger "better". Smoother out of the box and less reset. When you added a Freedomsmith trigger shoe to the trigger bar and lightened the trigger return spring, you had an equal to the DPT. Comparing the 4.5 Pro SD w/DPT and the FS in the Rival S was an eye opener.

I have a PDP trigger bar w/shoe inbound so I can add the Freedomsmith (leftover) shoe to it for a test. Test gun is a PDP 5" poly frame. The PDP SF trigger will remain stock as will the Pro SD.
It will be good to know whether it works or not!

Most excellent!
I ordered the standard blue/grey grips this morning. If I feel the need for the flat backstrap, I'll just get them.
My gun is home now, what a piece!! I'm so glad I sold the Canik Ss!!

I'll run break in ammo this weekend then put it through the comp ammo I have.
Mr. Kim shared with me he uses PMC Bronze 115g for classes and comps. We'll see!!

I didn't ask him what springs, etc, because he may have to shoot stock stuff. It will be interesting to hear what folks find what works for them with specific ammo choices.
