Safariland holsters for PDP

Safariland is now listing holsters for the PDP. They currently only have holsters to accommodate an optic, as well as a light package. In other words, they don't have a holster for 'just the pistol' ..... meaning no light or optic.

I do have one ordered, as their RDS holsters include a hood that covers the optic. I referred to this hood as a 'cookie crumb deflector' a while back. Well, last night I'm sittin' in my recliner muchin' on a cookie.....finished the cookie, then got up to go to the kitchen sink to wash my hands and thought I'd take a look at the back of my Romer01 .... sure enough, there's a flippin' cookie crumb. So Yeah, I need a cookie crumb deflector. 😂

Here's a link Holster Finder

As a side note: When using the 'Holster Finder', they list the PDP compact and the PDP full size as separate choices. That's a little confusing, because other than the length of the grip, they're the same gun.

When you select PDP compact, you're only barrel size choice is 4".

When you select PDP full size, the barrel length choices are 4" and 4.5".

You can go with either one of those and you'll wind up at the same page I've linked above. 😖

So, if you have a PDP compact or full size with 4" or 4.5" barrel and your going to be using one of he optics and lights they list in the 'drop-down' boxes, you're good to go.

Yeah, last time I checked, Safariland is only offering OWB holsters for the PDP with 'red dot' AND light. I've got one of those coming....hasn't been shipped yet.

In the mean time, I'm carrying my 5" PDP Compact with Sig red dot and Glock 17 supressor height sights in a DARA 'duty' holster. I'm not fond of the belt attachment they use and did what I always do.....I made something else work. I used a Safariland UBL belt hanger, elongated two holes, drilled an additional hole and screwed it to the holster. The UBL hanger is for a 2" belt, so I used a small piece of kydex attached to the rear of the hanger to make my 1.5" wide, belt fit perfectly. This rig carries beautifully/comfortably.....I've been EDC'ing it for a couple of weeks now.

The only thing I'll gain when using the 'new' Safariland holster is the built-in cookie crumb deflector that'll cover and protect the glass in the RDS. 😁

Here's a link to Dara and the PDP page. I see they also offer IWB holsters for the PDP. These holsters are absolutely Top Notch.

And my 5".....yep, it was on my belt, I just stood up and snapped a picture, sat down, took it off and snapped a few more.

That's actually on my right hip. Funny how the image gets reversed.

There's that little spacer. You can see I didn't have to elongate the top two holes very much. But had to drill a new hole to match to the lower attach point.

Just another view of the spacer. It works like a champ.

Just sittin' in my lap....you can see the curvature of the Safariland belt hanger....you can also see the 'thumb' disconnect, that when depressed, will allow the spring loaded hood to 'snap' forward. Oh, and there's the Glock rear sight, which is available here Ameriglo XL Optics Height Night Sight Set For All Glock Except 42/43-GL-331 644406904595 | eBay or probably many other places.

Did you get it yet? I have a 5” compact with a surefire X-300 and finding it really hard to find a level 2 retention holster. Dara said they don’t make it for this combo. Annoying really.

I exchanged few emails with C&G's Sales Team and they agree to manufacture a costume mold using my PDP 5" with Holosun 507C X2 and the Surefire X400 Ultra specs with the understanding that they have a huge backlog and being the first mold we may need to go back and forward until works. So hopefully by November I should be getting it.😀

Well, it was delivered today.

And, I like it. 😁 I DID do a little drillin' so I could mount the belt hanger just a little differently...wanted the pistol to ride just a little bit lower. I also 'always' install a spacer between the hanger and the holster to rotate the holster/pistol clockwise, bringing the butt of the gun just a little bit closer to my hip/butt. That allows me to carry this at about 2:30ish and NOT have to put a 'crook' in my arm/elbow while walking and swinging my arm. Also reduces the amount of times I whack a door jam with the gun.

Its comfortable while sitting or standing/walking. But, I had lots of practice while setting up my 6360's for the correct ride height, cant and ... I'll just call it 'rotation', etc. Only took about 25 minutes of lookin' and drillin' to get it the way I liked it.

I installed a Streamlight TLR-7A on my PDP 4" full size and it fits the holster perfectly.....stick er' in the holster and the ALS 'clicks' and that puppy is secure. To unholster, grab the gun, use your thumb to push the ALS rearwards and the gun can now be drawn from the holster.

One thing to note is this holster will hold the pistol, securely, with or without the light.

Hangin' on the hip.
Image

Belt hanger....drilled some new holes. Still need to add one more screw.
Image

Red arrow is the 3/8" spacer I use to rotate the pistol 'clockwise' when hangin' on the belt. The green arrow is the ALS knobby.

This is pretty much the sight picture. I never can get everything in focus and also show the correct spacing between the front sight and the rear sight. I use Speed Sights and when you bring the gun up and look at the sights, all three diamonds are touching 'at the corners'....there's NO air (as seen in this picture).

Safariland holster finder is showing me ZERO holsters for the PDP!

Yessir! That is for the 6000 series holsters. This 7000 series holster seems to require no mods.
