Mine has a BA code and was test fired 6/2010 and has the tab. If you are purchasing the gun at a store just check it. If online get the BB for sure.


Oh, and make sure it has the S disconnector if you do not live in Mass.

 

What are the exact numbers in your test fire date. They go by day month year and the day and month are getting inaccurate data on here.

 

one other thing:

What about guide rods and springs? My Glock 27 plastic guide rod broke with about 200 rounds through it and I replaced it with a metal guide rod and 2lb overpressure springs from Wolf. No other problems after that.

 

I bought a BB 2011 mfg today for $509 with a 7 and 8 round mags. I checked every dealer in the area and thanks to this forum I knew what to look for. One dealer emailed me that he would match Jetguns for $488. Drove there and all 7 he had were AK 2009 mfg. Personal Defense in Raleigh took care of me today by holding when it arrived today. Ask for Mike there and tell him Tim sent you. I give a plug because he was the only dealer to be fair on the price and knew that I only wanted a BB.

 

You should be getting 6 and 7 rounders and yes look for a BB code...not because there is anything wrong with other years but if you are buying new it can't hurt to make sure you are getting a new gun. Make sure to check for the S (standard) on the connector instead of the H (heavy).

As far as guide rods and springs....I say don't fix what isn't broken but some people sware by them...I would not worry about that though.

 

There are numerous threads here about PPS & other Walther guide rods. I have a stainless steel guide rod in my PPS. Go to BTGuiderods & you will find the best guide rods available. I bought the kit with the rod & tool to change my springs out. I have changed out many of my friends plastic ones in their PPSs.

All the springs are factory Walther. Don't believe there are any aftermarket ones. I also have a complete recoil spring pack ( the only way you can get springs from Walther) just in case I want to go back to stock.

 

Stupid question from a noob but how do I know if I got a BA or BB date code? Is it printed on the frame or on the sticker on the case?

 

I bought mine two weeks ago and didnt know about the problem when i made the purchase. i got lucky though because mine has the tab. the fired date is 5/7/10. Maybe this will help determine some kind of timeline for the changeover. I also want to say the PPS is quite a caddillac compared to my LC9. Quality is amazing and feel is just night and day compared to other 9s Ive shot.

While the topic certainly is Stickyworthy, the content remains a bit on the thin side beyond the opening post. We can give it a try and see if it fills out in time.

 

another thing to watch out for is the WAP numbers. I believe some come in green and tan. Also , even though the WAP 10009 (night sights)is over 200 dollars higher than the others, it reportedly comes with all 3 magazines, which may make up the rest of the difference in price. I may consider this, although I am having no luck finding a 2011 model in any variation anywhere.

I have also noticed there is usually no difference in price between the ones with non-adjustable sights, and adjustable sights. I find this a little odd, usually adjustable sights are about 50 dollars higher on most guns.

 

Couple Noob Questions

Hey All,

Been trolling this and other firearm forums for a bit now researching what to get for my first handgun. Recently got my CCW and have been hitting the range renting & shooting as often as my wallet would allow.

I've landed on the PPS and have called around to a few of the local shops near me and will be picking up the PPS 9mm this Friday. Merry X-Mas to me!

I've gone shooting here and there over the years, but still definitely a noob and had a couple questions.

1.) I understand the want/need to make sure you are getting the newest model when purchasing, but wanted to get clarification on where the date (proof) stamps would be. As a noob was originally thinking it was the first few of the serial number that's on the internals, slide and barrel. Just wanted clarification if it is the stamping on the slide just rear of the ejection port and S/N on the slide.

2.) I planned on doing a field strip when I look at it to determine if it has the Magazine Disconnect, since I was unable to find when that change went into effect, but was unclear as to what tab to look for to see if it has the updated slide stop.

There are several DE BB (2011) mfg PPS out there right now. DE BC (2012) mfg shouldn't be far behind. I actually rented a DE AK (2009) mfg and it shot fine but you can tell the difference when you remove slide and look at spring.

I was alarmed and thought my new PPS had some rust on the lower until someone informed me it was a type of welding flux Walther uses in the manufacturing process.

 

Just picked up my new PPS 9mm. The first one the the shop showed me was stamped BB. Ran out of time on lunch to put a ton of rounds through it.

 

My PPS 9mm came with 7 & 8 mag and its a BB code and its stamped on the slide right side BIG letters about 1/4 inch tall ( right at the ejector port)and is on box

Yeah, mine came with a 7 & 8 round mags too. Which I was happy about that, since the earlier models cam with the 6 & 7.

 

Picked up my new PPS on Friday. Had BB stamped on the slide and came with one 7 and one 8 round magazine.

Thanks, searcher. I already know what the date codes mean and that the pistol was manufactured in 2011. Just updating the thread with what pistol I received and the mags that came in with it.

Saw a new BA (2010) marked PPS today in shop. It had the new slide stop with tab and the S on the disconnector mentioned. Test cartridge was dated 4-11-10, which I assume is 4 NOV, 2010, as in day-month-year European format. Is that correct? I think it is best to put the whole date on here for comparisons as some may interpret the month and day backwards.

Also, the PPS seems very hard to find lately, either online or here in SC.

 

Before buying a pps

Does anyone know of a place in S Florida that will rent a pps 40? Arizona Gun Range has a 9 to rent. I am much more interested in the 40.
