Seriously, you have the best Walther pics.

In my humble opinion though.. aesthetically... nothing beats the P99. Not a fan of the PPQ's look.. especially the grip texturing. I'm sure performance (via ergonomics) is improved though and ultimately thats what counts.

Nice Pictures TANFOGLIO.

If you don't mind answering a few questions?
Do the 2nd Gen P99 magazines fit in the new P99, PPQ and P99Q?
And when are back woods places like Idaho going to see any of these guns?

Nice pics Tang. Wish Walther would lose the obsolete squared off trigger guard and change to a pushbutton mag release. It would look much nicer and be more standardized with current designs in the firearms industry. Beretta has already dumped the squared trigger guard on their new releases and SIG has started to do so too.

I'm not convinced that every manufacturer that's out there should fall in line and produce a cookie-cutter version of the same pistol. Walther provides us with a distinctive look, and the mag release is familiar, even comfortable, to those who use the P99 as a standard carry piece. But that's just me.

I get it, Dep. But ... one of the things I truly like about the modern Walther pistols, at least (I've always liked the early Walthers), is the fact that they aren't trying to be Glocks. If I wanted a Glock, I'd buy one. I'd be far less tempted to buy a Walther copy or Walther version of a Glock. But again ... that's just me.

Well I was tempted with the Pee Pee Que. But it looks like they only went 1/3rd of the way in modernizing the P99. The trigger is nice. Glad they went with it. But if they want to cut into US sales of handguns, and that IS where the money is, they need a pushbutton mag release at the very least. The squared-off trigger guard is ugly, but it does look like a Glock, so I could live with it.

Imitation is also a sincere form of... lack of imagination. I don't think you can out-Glock a Glock. It's a fine weapon. Whether or not my flavor of Walther is carried by, say, Polish Police forces or Swiss SWAT teams really has no bearing on my use of it.

I bought the few Walthers I own because I liked something distinct about them (I like the mag release too). As long as they sell enough to stay in business and make quality firearms, I'd say that's a good plan.

(anticipating the jabs at the recent Umarex offerings...)

I think a whole bunch of other gun makers may disagree with you. The trend has been to striker-fired handguns of the Glock persuasion for many of them. And many of them have seen a brisk business in them after they were introduced. I really don't think Glock is the "ultimate" in striker pistols, though.
Maybe I'll find a hack gunsmith that can convert the Walther to a pushbutton mag release. A little grinding here and some bashing there and it should be all set. Walther has a pushbutton PPK, why not a P99? :D

There are companies that exist only to mimic what's popular and "sellable", and there are companies that try to innovate and trail blaze.

Walther has been innovating since long before now and I'd be highly disappointed if they stopped in order to hop on the bandwagon.

Yeah...no sense in hopping on the large sales volume bandwagon. No need for Walther to make a profit like the rest of the industry and supply guns that the public actually wants.

Are the walther barrels in the p99's and ppq's interchangeble? Im new here and dont much know yet how to navigate the various postings so i apologize in advance for any sketchyness..lol.Im very interested in walther p99 pqq series pistols and leaning more on the ppq due to its ever so beautiful trigger reset.Only problem for me is the lack of accessories ie conversion barrels and the plus 2 extended mags...annoying...,lookin into the 40 with the intent to convert it to 9mm for plinking and if at all possible a 357 sig conv. for daily carry.ive been told the p99/pqq doesnt much like the extra pressure from the 357 but id much like to be able to throw some cheaper lead when run n gunnin, targeting ect...any thoughts or info?

Or if you've clicked the link, find your downloads file (varies depending on os) double click n your all set...Does anyone know whats needed to do a down conversion from 40s&w to 9mm with the ppq? i would so rather pay 200$ for a conversion barrel and get a few 9mm mags rather than an extra 400+ for the same outcome...grrrrrrr...lol

Tanfoglio,
I have looked at you photos and have a question for you. Do the P99Q and PPQ have the same dimensions? I ask this because I can find duty holsters for the P99Q and not the PPQ. If they are dimensionally the same then a P99Q holster will work.

The differences between the P99Q and PPQ are the triggers and fire control assemblies. The dimensions of both pistols are the same.
