@pcar157: Don't appreciate the thread crap and perhaps you should take the time to read the post and the rules.
The issue in question is LonChaney claims he had to back out due to having a fake Shield sight.
My post states I bought mine directly from Shield and I have the invoice to prove it. You are also misinformed as the price quoted is in British pounds --they will remove VAT but charge shipping which will bring the total to ~$118 USD. How do I know? I actually purchased it.
@imaoldfart: This forum wouldn't be what it is without you and olsoul! I am also curious about the counterfeit claims.[/QUOT
Not thread crap as you suggest. I have been seeking a Shields sight and received an email from the Shields that this plate new is $80, USD, not pounds as you suggest. I could forward the mail to you if you wish. If you paid more than that, its' your money. My response was to "imaoldfart" to make him aware of the cost of a new plate and not a potentially counterfeit one.
Oh, and one more thing, I am aware of the posting rules as I have sold numerous products on this forum and have received very positive referrals.
Best of luck to you!
The easiest way to tell it’s a fake is when you try to put it on a factory shield plate and it doesn’t fit. Which is what happened to me. I ordered my plate direct from Shield ($118 shipped). But when I tried to put the RMS on didn’t fit. The fake RMS was too long. Dimensions on the fake were 1.8”x1”x1”, which is bigger all around (slightly). I emailed Shield to confirm there was only one plate (I was thinking there were different ones when I first emailed the seller about this plate) and when told there was only the one I started doing some measuring. I’ve got pictures of the fake. The electronics and windage screws are also different to name a few things. The easiest way on mine (now that I know) was the windage screws. The factory are hex head, counterfeit was flathead.I'm interested in the plate, but it'd just be a spare for me, as I've already got a couple of em'.
I am curious however, how to tell a REAL Shield from a counterfeit, as I've got more than one and they all look and operate the same.
I bought it from a friend, who got it off eBay. I’m not out any $$. My friend bought it back and is dealing w the seller.Sorry to hear that, Lon. Where did you purchase that Shield RMS? So, maybe no one else will make the same mistake.
