Walther PP / DDR PP 1001-0 East German Walther PP manufactured post WWII after the Walther factory in Zella-Mehlis, Thüringia landed in German Democratic Republic / Deutsche Demokratische Republik (GDR / DDR). Built in East Germany at VEB Ernst Thalmann in Suhl (adjacent to Zella-Mehlis) between 1953 and 1956 for Volkspolizei (VoPo) and Nationale Volksarmee (NVA), 1001-0 were available in either .22LR for training or 7.65mm (.32 ACP) for service. Earliest examples were assembled Zella-Mehlis guns while later examples were new production. Manufactured in 1955, this example was new production and not assembled from existing components. In 1985, Hämmerli would export and GP Trading import 1001-0 remarking them with fake AC and Zella-Mehlis markings to disguise their manufacture in East Germany. Recently imported, this example was not part of the Hämmerli/GP Trading misprints and only additional markings include country of origin and discreet import markings on bottom of magazine well. Chambered in .22LR, this 1001-0 includes matching numbers including magazine, VoPo proofs, and bakelite grips. The finish and components are original is in 90-95% condition and have been inspected and detailed by Walther specialist M&M Gunsmithing. Happy to answer any questions.
