Why is the PPS M2 so Inexpensive Now?

22395 Views 102 Replies 34 Participants Last post by  MMA10mm
I was in my LGS today after shooting my new to me PPS M2, and I saw that even the CCP's were priced higher than the PPS M2 pistols. What gives here? Just a few years ago, these were among the higher priced of the smaller guns, Now, like the Shields, the prices on them have fallen dramatically. A new PPS M2 in 9mm for $389.00 seems awful low! Honestly, it kind of concerns me...

Probably due to the glut of Single Stack Sub Compact pistols on the market.

Even $389.00 seems kind of high to me. I have seen them for around $300.00, and that is what I paid for mine last year.

And around $350.00 for the LE version that comes with 3 magazines and phosphor sights.

I think the PPS M2 is a steal at these prices. You get a great CCW piece that is reliable, accurate, and easy to shoot.

I got the LE version with the 3 mags for $330 shipped... Prices are down on all the single stacks except for the G43...
Supply up - demand down = lower prices. :D

Now if I could just get the M1's to go down to that level, I would load up on a few more.

Last week, I went into a large farm equipment store in one of the neighboring towns. It has a good gun and shooting supply section. They were having a big pistol sale with everything listed in a newspaper flyer. Couldn't believe my eyes - the PPS M2 LE was $299.
At that price, I almost talked myself into buying a second LE. But common sense kicked in and I moved on. (Good thing too, because a few days later at another shop, I found a great deal on the elusive Beretta 84FS and walked out with it.) :):)

And why is the G43 holding steady? I know it is; just wondering how it is managing to not drop the price when others are? It must be the name and reputation for reliability?

Anyway, check this out from a few years back when PPS prices were right about twice as high. I think the same quality is there, but you're getting the gun for a lot less today than people were back then. I'd say the PPS is one heck of a good deal right now. One really good deal indeed! http://www.waltherforums.com/forum/pps/23870-when-did-msrp-pps-go-599-a.html

And how about Hk? (From Jan 2018) …"apparently HK has permanently cut the price of P30s to $588 from high $800-$900. You can get them for about $588 shipped now..." Wow. https://www.ar15.com/forums/General/HK-dropped-MSRP-of-the-P30-from-900-to-588/5-2067273/

Googling finds this to be the case pretty much across the board.. I see it being referred to ass the "Trump Slump" … some prices cut as much as 50-705!!! https://www.google.com/search?safe=..._qHcAhXnxlQKHXooCTQQ1QIIaSgF&biw=1366&bih=576

And is there any need to go into prices spiraling downwards on .22lr ammo? NO? Didn't think so. Good for us who like to shoot a lot!

CDNN has the M2 for 319, with 5 bucks for a 'signature fee'. I hadn't intended to buy another pistol but after bumping into that price, I felt morally obligated to purchase one. :)
The Glock 43 had a MSRP of $529 when it came out. You can get it for less than $450 now. Just saying...

Other than when they first were released, the G43 has stayed at $450. Hasn't budged whereas when the PPS and Shield first came out, they were selling in the $450 range, then dropped into the $375-$400 range for years, and now they're selling for under $300. I doubt the G43 will ever drop from were it is now.
When the original PPS first came out, it was $665.

You guys will never be happy. Waaah it's too expensive, waaaah, it's not expensive enough...

I don't recall them ever costing that much, but I guess the guys who paid a premium for theirs are upset that their gun is devalued.
Magazine release type aside, is the new PPS a better pistol than the M1?
Is the trigger any better? Is it any more accurate?

I'm curious because I am getting less enamored with my PPS M1 as time passes. I shoot my P99cAS better, and if Sig gets the bugs worked out of the P365 it will be far better than the M1, just on trigger alone.

Anyone have both the new and the old and can give an honest appraisal of the two?
Lots of compact and sub compact Sig's are out there. P365 is a HOT pistol around here!!

LOL! Oh I'm happy, I guess the word "concern" in my first post here is not a good choice...perhaps I should be asking "why" instead. I see a lot of good comments on the topic though, and a little research has given me as good an answer as I'm likely to get. It appears that the firearms makers are pretty much all suffering what I see called the "Trump Slump" in terms of sales. It must be true, that our previous POTUS was the best gun salesman of all time!

History shows that any time our POTUS is an anti-gunner, gun sales sore, simply based on FEAR that our 2nd A will be pooped on. And, if the POTUS is a pro gunner, gun sales slow....people dance in the streets.....happy days are here again.....the FEAR of having your guns confiscated is gone. :D

My first PPS Classic in 9mm was a bit more than $700 out the door including tax in 2010. I found my second one 18-24 months later in a pawn shop with an asking price of $450 and got it for $400 cash out the door -- which was a steal at the time.
Just a buyers market. I’m good with it!
