What's causing this peening on a P99 barrel?

This is a Jarvis barrel in a P99AS, using the Springco recoil reducer. Note the battering in the corners of the feed ramp. I am starting to worry about this spring setup and go back to a stock spring and guide. I should add that very little hot ammunition is used in this gun - just a lot of target-type loads. Or is it not the spring but rather the aftermarket barrel?

Was this barrel specifically made for the P99, or PPQ?

If it was labeled as a P99 barrel, Jarvis may have modeled their P99 barrel after the PPQ barrel, which would be a mistake as the PPQ has a longer feedramp.

I'd assume that when cycling, your barrel is impacting the front of the mag body of your mags. If so, you may want to send the barrel back to Jarvis for a replacement, and start using PPQ mags in the pistol when this barrel is installed.

I don't see how this damage can come from the guide rod.
