The following is the message that the Walther Engineering department sent me after I specifically described the particular frame flexing I was experiencing. It is not made up. If anybody would like me to forward the whole e-mail to prove authenticity I would be more than happy to.:

Hello Mr. Levi,

The trigger bar has got an indent to minimize rubbing on the right side of the gun. A flexing of the trigger bar can not be avoided. If you feel annoyed I would like to ask you to use a little bit of oil. Without looking at your gun and from what you are writing I think you do not have to be worried.

The trigger bar will flex, the trigger bar will slightly rub the frame, the trigger bar should not actually flex the frame, that is excessive. I currently own 4 P99's, and was in the shop a few days ago looking over 3 other P99's, none of them flexed the frame at all during the DA or SA trigger stroke. You could feel varying amounts of friction in each pistols trigger pull, oil would help, but none of them showed any signs of the frame flexing from contact with the trigger bar.

I was at the gun store the other day checking out some other P99's. Every P99 that I tried had the flex also. You may not be looking in the right place. You should be looking at the right side of the frame where the warning is molded in. The majority of the flexing is during DA pull right at the words "warning read." Try a slow DA pull while observing that portion of the warning. It should be minimal at best but all the ones I've seen do it. HTH

Nope...... maybe i'm blind, but none of mine flex.
Maybe I got all the loose fitted frames.
Even putting a straight edge along the frame doesn't show any distortion.
Ohhhh well......... maybe you guys are just lucky.

I have two P99s. I've examined them very carefully and see absolutely no frame movement (flexing/bulging) adjacent to the trigger bar.

I checked all four of my P99s, and if I look at them carefully in that area when pull the trigger, in DA mode, I can see very, very subtle bulging, but I am talking about an amount that would need to be measured by a fine caliper. Like a very small fraction of a millimeter. Polymer is designed to flex to some degree, so why worry?

Now you guys are getting it. Yeah, it is normal. I guess I freaked out about nothing. But, I just wanted to know why since steel frames and glock frames that I've seen do not do this. I think the reason other polymer frame pistols, with the exception of some, do this is because of the heavy double action trigger pull. The DAO pistols, including walther's, probably do not produce enough pressure.
