Well, Ain't THAT Sumthin'... Backstrap Content Inside.

Maybe it's been covered before... mabye LOTS of times... but here it is again.

PPQ M2 backstraps fit on an older P99 or (in my case) an old SW99.

My SW99 9mm was to be my backup (in case of a breakdown) to my P99c for a class next month. I'd bought extra mags, a holster to fit both, and was GTG... until the SW99's backstrap literally crumbled into about 7 pieces... WTF? It just split and fell apart.

I changed directions and decided to use my 5" PPQ M2 instead, but while I had it out to give it a once-over and wipe-down for the range tomorrow, I decided to see if the backstraps fit the SW99 and they DO.

Of course, now I've spent stupid-money on P99 mags. Then more stupider money on PPQ mags. Now I'm going back the the SW99/P99c kit...

...shooting is an expensive hobby.

BTW, a quick call to Walther netted a promise to send me a new backstrap and roll pin... it was quite painless. I just don't think those items will arrive before I head to the range tomorrow to vet the new mags.

In case you wondered, 9mm P99/PPQ M1/SW99/MR9 all use the same mags.

Well, for the most part. There are some combinations of mags and pistols that I wouldn't want to mix.

Of the ones I listed? Why? They're literally the same magazine, with the exception of the follower color and the writing on the base plate.
If you had stated that you could use either of the mags mentioned in an early P99, I would have agreed with you, but you stated that they were all the same, and this isn't the case.

For example, using an older P99 mag in a PPQ can cause damage to the feedramp.

not COMPLETELY true. The OLD gen 1 P99 mags can cause problems in the PPQ M1 by hitting the feed ramp. HOwever, most modern 15 round p99 mags will work in the PPQ just fine. It's just those ones with the high front lip to watch out for
Add another firearm to the list, Wilson Combat EDC X9 uses the mag also.

Those trying to convince the significant other on an EDC X9 purchase can use this, "but honey, I already have tons of mags that fit it".

I believe those use a different baseplate.

I'm not sure if they fit in a 99-series pistol as they come from the factory.

Yes, WC put a different plastic base on a Walther/Mec Gar PPQ M2 9mm mag.

Bill Wilson designed the EDC X9 AROUND the Walther PPQ mag, this was the sole item keeping it from being a true "clean sheet" design.
I also understand that the mag catch notch/cut is in a different place, so neither M1 nor M2 PPQ mags work in an X9, or vice versa. But it may be possible to make like OF and cut your own catches to have mags that work in everything, assuming base plates are compatible or can be made compatible.

Are PPQ M2 backstraps the same Geometry as the P99AS backstraps? Referring to the shape that fits the hand and not the side that mates to frame.
As for back straps I liked the MR9 backstops texture so I replaced mine with those. The older P99 fit perfectly the new one required a bit if fitting but the are great if you like that sort of thing. I think I mentioned it in a quick video I did on the generations of the P99.
