I have a wartime P38 with no import markings. I was considering having it re-blued, but thought the better of it and decided to keep it original. The reddish grips are in good condition and original to the gun. There is just one thing. Somewhere in the gun's past a "T" was scratched onto every part of the gun and the top of the grips. It is faint, but it can bee seen when you handle the gun. The gunsmith that I was considering to re-blue it says that was a typical thing he has seen from east German capture guns. Has anyone seen this before? If it was some past owner, wouldn't he scratch all his initials into the gun? No re-blue and the "T" stays for now.
