Walther q4 vs q5 optic plate difference?

So I am a proud owner of a new q4, was able to get one new for less than 570 so couldn't pass it up. I've had a q5 for over a year now and was very surprised when I saw the difference in the mounting plates for the q4. They are much lighter and seem cheaper but the weight reduction isn't necessarily a bad thing they are also only marked with numbers on the q4 plates where the q5 plates are marked with brands. There is a HUGE weight difference as shown in the pictures. Anyone know what is up with this?

I'm thinking he Q5 plates are steel and the Q4 plates are aluminum. Got a magnet? Yep, saving weight....its a good thing.:D

Walther has recently introduced the aluminium adapter plates and the models Q5 Match/Q5 Match Champion are now delivered with these plates as standard, in place of the older steel plates. The Q4 is supplied without adapter plates (at least, in Europe), although the American-supplied Q4 Tac has them included.

You can read more about this by referring to posts #9 and #11 of the following thread:

Your picture #2 would appear to be the steel plate, showing 57g on your scales and picture #3 seems to be the aluminium plate showing a mere 14g.

Can you please confirm that these weights are correct?

Yes that is correct

A couple more notes on my experience with these plates. I purchased a docter sight c for the q4 tac, this might be a defensive handgun and I wanted something that would auto adjust and Iike trying new brands and optics because I am still learning. The screws would not thread into the q4 mounting plate. Both the docter supplied screws and Walther supplied screws would not work for some reason but the q5 mounting plate works perfectly. The q5 plate specifically says docter on it maybe the q4 plate is more tuned in for Vortex because that is what more people use.
Another side note is the weight of the rear iron sight is identical on the q4 and q5 just FYI they appear to be identical.
