I can't see the serial in the pictures. Presumably somewhere between 001 and 073? If it's one of these, then it was built between 1978 and 1989. 41 with a six inch barrel and 32 seven inchers.

The serial number is 7

Do you know why there is such a small number made? What were they made for?

That's literally all the information I can find on that specific pistol if it even is one of these, and I've got that from Dieter Marschall's book "Walther Defense Pistols", German edition.

Because after one has seen a few of them, the genre is instantly recognizable. The workmanship is of high quality and the target-style alterations are idiosyncratic.
