Walther P22 from 2003

The original P22 came with a standard picatinny rail. The problem with using it for some accessories like a laser or a light was that there wasn't enough room between the slot and the front of the trigger guard for accessories. Walther did offer a so called bridge mount. The thing slipped over the rail, was then clamped down with a rail on top.....the problem was it was ugly, had to be removed to remove the slide....I had one....sent it to someone in AZ that responded to a free mount.

I did several threads on mounting a red dot to the slide of a P22. I have had one installed for years now. But the P22 is not made for installing a red dot. First the slide is very thing, an alloy and the firing pin actually lightly drags on the underside of the top of the slide. So forget about cutting any sort of notch....there is nothing there to work with. The only steel is in the breech block. That was the subject of my threads on it. Very careful drilling, threading of the breech block, homemade mounting plate and with a suppressor on the lens on the red dots were ruined in short order. Glass needs to be used. I even made a mount with a blowback guard and needed that from day one. 1917

Red dot mount on a custom mounting plate. The plate is tapped to receive the red dot screws. The slide was carefully drilled so that four 3m screws could securely fasten the mount to the breech block which needed drilling and threading. There is a thread or two on it with all the details. 1917
