What steps and tools are needed to take the original front sight off?
And what steps are needed to install a Walther Factory white dot sight?
I am concerned that there are parts under the sight that might get damaged during the removal.

What steps and tools are needed to take the original front sight off?

There's nothing under the front sight of the P1/P38/P4 that's going to be damaged or come off. All you'll need is a brass punch and a hammer to drive it out of the dovetail. Maybe put some penetrating oil on it before you start. It can be driven in and out from either side. Because of the shape of the barrel it will need to be supported in some way. I normally use some wood to shim it up.
