Walther Colt AR 22LR question

New here...coming to the experts.
Can the pistol grip on the Colt Walther AR 22 be changed? I have a non beavertail magpul grip that would be more comfortable than the stock grip.
I thought I would inquire before I start a dismantle.
Thanks again!

It can be done, but may need a little modding to do so. There is a hammer strut that sticks out of the bottom of the trigger pack. Sometimes it will come in contact with the aftermarket hand grip. If it does you'll have issues. So just take a Dremel or another tool and remove some material from the grip to make room if need be.

I would put it on and see if it gives you any issues. If it does then you can mod it. I know you're probably asking what the issues that it could cause. Honestly it's been a while since I handled one, but iI want to say you'll either see the hammer fail to sear, or the bolt won't go all the way back. When you have the grip off if you dry fire it and then recock it you'll see how the strut moves outward when cocked. It moving outward and contacting the grip is the issue to look out for.
There is a you tube video of a guy who modded up his M4 carbine with a Magpul MOE grip and other new parts.
