After reading posts about several issues and seeing mention of 3xxx, 6xxx and 8xxx serial numbers (in just a couple of months) I'd like to track FTE, FTF, no slide lock back, no trigger reset, sticky and gritty trigger, magazine problems, etcetera by S/N, purchase date and barrel finishes. We might be able to track design changes, component changes, and workmanship issues.
Just post the first 2 digits of your S/N.
My S/N is 87xx and I have a bright stainless barrel. Purchased on 2/27/15.
I have had no feed or ammo issues, no slide lock back issues, just a somewhat gritty, sticky trigger that I worked and fixed myself. 100% reliable. Goes bang every time.
I don't know who or how this will be compiled, but here ya go.
S/N: 36xx
Purchased: 12/17/14
Striker spring failure @ 100rds.
Handful of FTE, FTFe, stovepipes thru ~250rds. (I still blame much of those on cheap ammo)
No function probs since.
Counterplate rollpins re-centered and re-locktighted @ 950rds.🔫
I am not even sure the effort will be worth your time. I would imagine that Walther's is tracking very closely what is going in and out of the repair facility. I would think they would be watching with keen interest what is being done and what they are hearing through their customer service in terms of complaints and real issues. At any rate, In consideration of the size of the data pool the company can is plugged into, by virtue of them being the manufacturer on a global scale, their tracking would be far more accurate than the little microcosm of data one can collect through this site.
Maccountrypilot: This isn't for Walther, although they may look in here and take note of customer comments, both good and bad. When serial number ranges change quickly (I doubt they have shipped 5,000 guns already) it is often done to track design or part revisions. Walther knows what changes or mistakes they have made on the production line but we don't. They haven't recalled any CCPs so far, so this is a way to track what issues that different serial number ranges have. If we have enough CCP owners post their info we may see some trends. Maybe this will show nothing and the issues are just random, but we need data to determine that.
I suggest the info gathered in this thread, assuming we have more than a few participants, be combined with our Problems thread started by 1911....that is our tracking for problems encountered.
My info is:
Serial #39xx
Purchased 12/18/15
5 FTFi in first 60 rounds - Striker Spring replaced by Walther
Locking Catch roll pin failure - replaced by Walther
Walther CS rep Dillon checked with gunsmith and advises no significance to serial numbering.
Dillon also reiterated that the lifetime warranty is for ALL guns and older firearms will be evaluated on a case by case basis because parts could be an issue.
Having 30+ years experience in manufacturing of consumer retail and and aerospace components I can tell you with confidence that the CS rep only says what he is told to say, and that would be the information that the company wants released to the public. I don't want to be accusing or start any conspiracy theories, but he is there to protect the company and to satisfy customers that are having problems, and has been doing a good job.
Many companies allow their customers to be the guinea pig and debug the product from the field. I'm sure that pre-production CCP samples given to the press were careful assembled with high quality, well manufactured parts and were tested with care to insure good write ups. I have read at least 5 reviews in magazines that were all glowing. Smooth triggers and no miss-feeds or any other issues at all. Unfortunately someone's life can and will depend on a product that may or may not function in the field on a case by case basis. Our guns are obviously not the same as those review guns. This happened with Remington's R51 pistol and they had to recall all guns that were shipped and rework them.
My CCP works perfectly and I have no complaints at all, so this isn't just for me. I have a 87xx serial number and would trust it with my life. Are all 8xxx guns 100% reliable? Are all 3xxx and 6xxx unreliable? Can I recommend this gun to a friend and tell him to look for a 8xxx serial number? We need info to find trends, and it's our job to keep the manufacturers doing their job. After all, we are spending our hard earned money.
Thanks for posting your info Chandler. We'll see if we get more from other forum users.

Thanks for the heads up JohnC. My serial # is 41xx with purchase date 12/16/14. The barrel is blued. No problems with approx. 450 rounds fired in 2 range visits.
I know this thread is primarily for tracking CCP issues by serial # but it may be useful to log the #'s of those CCP that function as they were intended. Hope this helps.
You know you will hear more from complaints than praises don't you? It is the nature of the human beast. Happy folks are quieter ... hang around the water cooler in most offices for a quick lesson is such behavior!
I worked forums for a manufacturer for 10 years. I totally agree that happy customers usually keep to themselves. There are a few of us that just want to learn more or help others here and that's always good thing.
It's true that the folks who are happy feel less need to shout. But that doesn't mean that the complaints of those who aren't happy are any less valid or the issues they are experiencing any less real. The bottom line is that Umarex has a track record of releasing inferior pistols into the U.S. market, starting with the P22 and the G22. Unless a change in attitude and direction is in the making, we'll see far more of these sorts of posts ... and with good reason.
Purchased 2/17/2015 SN: WK0047xx
Approx 113 rounds through it mostly winchester, few HPJ no issues other than slide not staying open on empty mag.
One stove pipe last 5 rounds using Tulamo ( just to try)
Blued barrel.
Do some come with stainless barrels??

Went to the range again last night. Put another ~ 100 rounds through it. This time I used Tula brass max and Perfecta. Zero issues.
While cleaning I came across something I would like some opinions on. After field stripping the gun, I noticed there is a hook shaped metal piece right above where the magazine sits. I have no idea what its called, however it is very loose. Is that normal for this gun???
Thanks for posting. How often does your slide not stay open on an empty mag?
I have heard of issues with cheap rounds, so we can probably discount any issues with the Tulammo.
I have S/N 87xx and have a stainless barrel and slide. Not sure, but they may have switched over to all stainless barrels at some points since some with black slides have also stainless barrels. Possibly due to the recoil spring rubbing the finish off? All of the review guns that I saw in Magazines were shown with blued barrels and were very early models of course.
100 Winchester rounds maybe 2 times. Stove pipe happened with Tula amo.
Well I have the stainless slide but mine has blue barrel. Earlier models, I just bought it 2 weeks ago
Any chance walthe r would un-blue my barrel? Fat chance im sure
Purchased 11 Feb 15
61xx
Multiple FTLs (10+ -- I hadn't started counting them yet) in first 200 rds
Very gritty trigger
Not impressed yet, except for the feel in my hand (sweet)
Klean Strip rust remover and BirchWood Casey Blueing remover are both easily found and both remove blueing. Just a touch of Klean Strip to try to remove some very light rust on the LCP above took off the rust.....blueing too. I never re-blued and the slide never rusted. This finish is not as bright as the stainless version.
Blueing is a very thin finish and can be buffed off also. M1911
Serial number 36xx. Purchased 1/17/15. 516 rounds, zero failures. Stainless slide, blue barrel, and metal sliver removed from slide after about 300 rounds.
Thanks for posting Dixon. Does your feed ramp to barrel transition have grinding marks on it? Was it smoothed and polished? Mine has sanding marks but is not polished.
Purchase date: 2-7-15 with a 2014 date code. WK0055XX and it has problems. I have about 200 rounds of mixed FMJ ammo through this gun. Winchester white box, Federal aluminum casing, and Tulammo Brass max. All 9mm 115gr. So far I and others who have shot my CCP have experienced: multiple fail to feeds, stovepipes, one misfire, one refusal to reset after misfire, several failures to go all the way into battery, slide not locking back on empty mag most every time, and several unintentional double taps. Also my sights seem to be a bit off and it's not me. I have never had to adjust sights on a factory new handgun before. My rounds also don't seem to be seating properly in the mag. Slapping the mag in my hand to seat them doesn't seem to help. After loading a full mag, then chambering a round. I try to drop the mag to top it off with one more. It slips about half an inch and sticks. The second round in the full mag was trying to feed too, and is hanging on the feed ramp.
You aren't kidding! To start off with I would contact Walther and send your gun in for warranty repair. Some have said that they replace several parts when their guns are returned even if those parts don't seem to be causing any issues. That probably means they have revised some of the parts. Sort of like a recall repair with no official recall. The double taps can be very serious.
As far as the sights, they are adjustable so why not adjust them? Because they have the adjustment built in the factory probably doesn't align them with any real precision. I gave mine about 1 turn because it was shooting left. It's right on the money now. I also have never adjusted a factory sight before.
I think some of the mags hold the rounds too tight and that causes FTF and slide locking back with rounds in the mag. I know mine did that until I shot a few rounds through it. It's doing fine now.
Send that gun back!
Thanks for posting.
