Had this happen today...went out with a friend who recently picked up a "S&W" P99...he told me about it and I said is it an SW99 or a Walther imported by S&W? He was convinced that it was a SW P99 because it had SW engraved on the slide...the guy who sold him the gun told him that Walther did not make the pistol, SW did since Walther sold out to SW....

I told my friend to trust me on this one. I pointed out that he had an early frame, all German proof marked P99. Nice 9mm too. He is a retired treasury officer and had a fine Sig 228 that I was able to compare side by side with my P99 and P99c?I really liked it and if I was to ever get a pistol with a metal frame I would go Sig. But overall, the P99 does not have to bow its head in Sigs presence. P99 had a bit more muzzle flip which I would say is due to the polymere frame. But round for round, accuracy both the same. I would be proud to own either/or and even both?but I am very happy with my Walther family?.just wish some gun dealers would get there facts straight?..
