The PPS M2 LE is not the same as the PPS M2 LE

So, apparently we've missed it, but, there are TWO versions of the PPS M2 LE.

The publicly-available PPS M2 LE is the one on Walther's website and comes with a 6-rd, 7-rd, and 8-rd and phosphur sights. Anyone can order this one through commercial channels.

If you are actual law enforcement, and must provide documentation as such, it turns out you get a different version, with a different SKU-number and different features: Regular white-dot sights, a 6-rd and two 7-rd. magazines. This is neither mentioned nor revealed anywhere, other than the price-tag, which is about $45 cheaper than a "public LE." Ultimately, I'm good, because I'll apply the savings towards real nightsights, but when I told two other officers they'd get an 8-rd mag and phosphur sights, they were a little dismayed... I guess the dealer should have known the deal and explained it better, but Walther keeping it secret didn't help. (I could have asked the dealer which version, if I'd known there were two options...)

OK, I didn't wanna say anything the first 12 times it was spelled like it, but it's "phosphor", or "phosphorous sights."

And I guess there's the PPS M2 "Luminescent Edition" and the "Law Enforcement Edition". ;)

Apart from the sights and mag options, there is most likely no difference. The main difference would be the price adjustment for the fact that LE sales are exempt from the federal excise tax on firearms.

Where did you get the info re a different model for LE officers? I have searched and found no reference for that model. Seems that Ft Smith should replace yours and other officers who expected and wanted the "advertised" model and pay fro shipping, etc.

I think that's what I said... :D Oh, and the SKU number. The point is, Walther shouldn't be so secretive. They are not trying to be misleading, but making their website "slick," has led to confusion...

Well, myself and two other officers got them. When the mags were a slightly different combo and no phosphor sights, I contacted Walther, thinking someone packaged them wrong. Cust. Svc. Rep. had me read the SKU and then explained the difference. Checking Waltherarms.com, I found the "public LE" version does have a different SKU...

Here's the PPS M2 LE sku....2807696. This comes from their catalog and if the case that your PPS M2 was packaged in has a Walther label stating it's a LE then that better be the sku on that label. If not.....Walther mislabeled and they owe you and others a replacement including full coverage for shipping. I suggest you talk with Glenn Seiter, CS Mgr, at Ft Smith (if necessary) to get it resolved to your satisfaction.

Just curious....what is the sku you have been referencing?
Thanks for getting the low-down on the different LE configurations.

That's weird.

On page 11 of the Safety & Instruction Manual that came with my PPS M2 LE, which I ordered thru a dealer, Section 3.1 is titled "Main Features". It begins with "The Walther Police Pistol Slim (PPS)..."

On page 31 of that manual Section 6.1 is "Sights", and it says "The PPS comes standard with with steel sights with three white dots. Additionally, the Law Enforcement Edition comes with steel sights with phosphoric dots that glow in low light conditions."

As I said I ordered mine from a dealer, and clarified that I wanted the PPS M2 LE with three magazines and phosporic dot sights. And that's what I got.

Weird, and unfortunate that any LEO would order the M2 LE and get white dot sights.

The SKU on the "secret," (really, I should say, "non-catalogued") Law Enforcement only model is: 2805961LE

The SKU you listed is also the one on their website, and is what I'd call "the general public LE model."
I can vouch for the fact that this other version exists. I came across one on gunbroker awhile back.
The bottom line is that whatever the 3rd version is.....it is not a LE! In some circles that is called "bait & switch" but in my parlance it is FRAUD! Looks like an air pistol company must be in charge!

The wife bought this SKU version, however, the label also states "7 round", has no glow sights and cache with one 6 and two 7 round magazines. \_0_/

Yes, that is the "non-catalogued" Law Enforcement Only version. Your wife should have had to sign a statement or provide credentials that she is a first-responder/law enforcement of some sort.

If she is not and did not, I'd next look into the price she paid. These have no luminous sights and no 8-rd magazine, so at least $25-$50 worth of items. The LEO-only sku is discounted because of that as well as the excise tax exemption. If she paid full-price, I'd say she didn't get full value... I don't know I'd be too mad at the dealer, because this is confusing since Walther doesn't publicize, AND, it may have been a mistake at the distributor-level possibly too...

Worth checking into.

It was in the LE / Military discount case. $434 after tax. About $60 less than the standard case price.

When I got mine, the label says PPS M2 LE Edition, 9mm W
SKU: 7 23364 21052 5
Art# 2807696

Came with 3 mags and it has the Glow Sights.

Probably got took, but it was the cheapest in town.

I can, then assume, this is NOT the true LE Edition.
bayern,

I got the same version as you. But, it's not a matter of "TRUE LE Version".

As it was explained to me, the main difference between ours and the one pizza_pablo's wife got is in pricing. Just like a standard Glock costs $150 more than a LE only Blue Label, but the only difference in the guns is an extra magazine. With Walther, it seems to be switching a 8 round to 7 round, and different sights.

By the way, when you turn 70 you will love the slightly brighter phosphorus sights. :D

Change that 70 to 80 in December. And I do love the sights. Some of my other Pistols have night sights and they are good, at night. Walthers Glow Sights, to me, are better 24/7.

Sorry, it's hard to see people on the internet.

I hope to still be shooting at 80.

Got no problem with the mistake. I feel flattered. I sometimes (don't know why) I'm asked if I qualify for a Senior Discount. Depending on the amount, and who asks, I sometimes day NO Thank you. :D:D:D

Since we don't know what you paid, we can't say if you got took. ;)

I don't think it is a matter of being taken.

One SKU has the phosphor sights and the third magazine is an 8-rd, and is available to anyone in the public. It should cost a little more (due to the sights and taxes).

Another SKU is available to certified Law Enforcement only. It avoids a small tax and comes with regular sights and the third magazine is another 7-rd.

The difference in price for me was around $40-$60, depending on how far one looks around for a good deal.
