I've had three of the SW99's in 45ACP for years, and have absolutely no complaints. I would like to find a source for stainless guide rods or guide rod/spring assemblies like those available from DPM for the P99/SW99 9mm/40S&W. Can't really rationalize why I'd like to find the stainless guide rod, since i've never had a problem or failure ( and am unaware of any problems or failures) of the original polymer guide rod. However, the afore-mentioned DPM guide rod recoil-control assembly could potentially help to prevent battering of the frame.

I've had the SW99 in 45 ACP for several years and it's a great firearm. I was lucky when I bought it S&W still had sights and magazines for sale even though it was well past the time it was discontinued.

This website claims to have 3 magazines in stock.

Thanks all. I found three additional (all new in original packaging) mags plus a manual. So I now have a complete setup with five mags. Also, the SW99 in 9mm vs. .45 do NOT use the dimensionally same backstraps, I compared them. The .45 backstraps are wider and taller.

I haven’t been able to shoot it yet but will report back once I do so. The gun appears fired very little but I’d still like to find an additional recoil spring assembly if possible.
