Has everyone seen the ads in the various gun magazines for the new SW99 in .45 ACP?

Logically, I would presume that we see a P99 in .45 ACP in the not too distant future.  I'd buy one.

(I tried to post a pic of the actual ad, but unfortunately the file size was too large.)

It's on the last pages of the new NRA Rifleman magazine. Looks great. I want a German Walther QA 45. I have been waiting for a 45 that's not too big that I can land a 747 on the top, like the Glock. The ad doesn't say how many rounds it holds or the size, but it says to go onto S&W's web site for details.

I attended a local gunshow this morning and had an opportunity to fondle a SW99 in .45 ACP.  The grip circumference seemed quite a bit larger to me compared to my P99s; I shouldn't have been surprised.  I came away feeling somewhat disappointed.  Bottom line - even if Walther did offer one, I'd probably pass.  As always, YMMV.

I'm afraid that I will not be able to provide you with an intelligent answer.  In my mind, I feel that the fit and/or feel of a particular gun is both individual and subjective.

While I find my Walther P99s very comfortable in my hand with the medium (or small) backstrap insert, the large is not really all that comfortable.  The SW99 .45 ACP with the standard backstrap felt as big as my P99 with the large insert.

This may not be very scientific but the following equation is basically true:

The Glock 17 is to the Glock 21 as the Walther P99 is to the SW99 .45ACP.

I'm reasonably certain that you can get the exact dimensions from the Smith and Wesson website.

Sorry that I can't be more helpful.
