I see on this and other forums somebody asking for a price than friends and family only.
crazy fellas. There’s no protection for you if you send money that way. Use goods and services and the fee is the sellers. They could certainly include it in their price but not as an add on.
If you use friends and family and get beat you were warned

PayPal, and related services (i.e. Venmo), offer no protection for anything having to do with firearms and is well-known for their anti-2A stance. If I must use their services, I do not want to give them more than the 2-3 days interest they can make with my money before the seller is able to transfer to a bank account. Yes, PayPal/Venmo holds onto your money for 2-3 days every time you use their service or charges extra to get the money out sooner.

Treat online transactions as you would any other direct transaction and research the seller/buyer before rushing a deal that seems too good to be true.

i used to be on a musicians forum. the rules stated that you could not specify Friends and family since there were no protections and the message board would not back you. posters still tried it adn their posts were usually deleted.

There are just enough folks out there with no common sense to make this sort of scam EXTREMELY profitable and the individual lost dollar amounts are low enough that neither local, state or federal law enforcement will look into it - even though these crimes are often repeated againd and again or even coordinated.

I heard a cop griping the other day about airtags and vehicles with GPS on them... apparently they get a large number of phone calls from citizens saying "My stolen property is in exactly this location" and the police consider it a waste of their time.

If PayPal is going to hold your money for two or three days anyway, wouldn't it be similar to sending a money order via the post? Sure, the USPS has its days where things get lost or undelivered. Fair enough, but the money order is backed and can be replaced, no?

If you are going to allow your money to sit in essentially an escrow for up to three days, why not just have it mailed to you (given that the buyer gets right to post office and gets the money order out post-haste). That way its the same amount of time, no messing with "Friends or Family" and trying to skirt their rules. Stop giving them the money via their "fees". One less cost.

I agree my point was you’re gonna eventually get robbed w friends and family unless they really are friends and family. People are silly believing they can read through someone’s intent

It's sad and odd that PayPal was founded by a conservative. Just went sour like the rest of the digital services. Venmo is the same way. Its an escrow service of sorts, and convenient to send money between friends in a dash. But they hammer you on the fees if you want your money right away.

At least you got your money back. I still prefer using USPS money orders and shipping.
I find the USPS MOs to be the most secure.
The best deterrence feature is the fact that POS scammers and anyone who assists them can be hit with Federal Felony level charges (no 'good time credits' or early release BS after a conviction), along with the possibility of catching RICO charges.

You don't F' with the fed.gov, they HATE competition.
