Just curious, the "Black" finish on my slide is very nice ans smooth

Is it blued or is it a phosphate ?

I know the Tennifer is under the finish. I'm just curious.

It's a shame it will eventually wear, the finish is actually very nice.

Only thing I have ever seen is this:

"The finish on the slide and other metal parts is Tenifer, and it is extremely corrosion resistant. Glock uses the same process, but unlike the Glock the Walther P99 is not parkerized after the Tenifer treatment. The Walther P99 sports a dull black finish."

From http://www.universalexports.net/00Walther99.shtml

So, I think the P99 just has some type of blued finish.

The smooth finish on the P99 is really very nice. I like it a lot.
I know what Tennifer is and it aint a "finish" it's a treatment for the metal.

I will be carrying my P99 as a duty weapon so I know the finish is going to wear

I was just wondering if eventually it could be re done to match the factory finish, but first we have to know what the factory finish is.
