I just bought a new Walther ppk/s. When I got home I disassembled it and found a small, sharp, protruding defect in the metal on the back edge of the barrel. It looks like its probably from being in a vice or something during manufacturing. It is small but rubs very slightly on the slide. Would it be fine to sand or file this off? Can anyone recommend a tool and method to smooth this out?

i said back edge of barrel... but i guess the anatomically correct term is the rear driverside edge of the chamber...

Will call S&W but would rather not send it to them if its something easy to fix.

Gun manufacturers can be pretty picky about repairs done by others. As long as your gun is under waranty, let them do the work rather than risking them telling you that your warranty is void because of work done by others.
