Any body reload for the P99, 9mm?

I've got a bunch of mixed brass that I'm gearing up to reload and I was just curious as to what load any body else uses in their P99...

I'm planning on using 115 grain FMJ winchester bullets with Unique powder... I think I'll start with about 5.5. grains and work up a comfortable but reliable load... Any suggestions?

What load do you use?

Bingo. You hit it. I reload 115 gr and use Unique 5.5 gr. It is all I use and I like it. A little dirty but Unique is universal.

Yeah, there are probably better powders for 9mm, but Unique does have the versatility attribute going for it. You can use it for almost every handgun and originally, it was designed for a shotgun powder. One of the things I like about it is it usually charges at least half the case. Meaning, it's hard to double charge your brass with out it over flowing the case... It is dirty, but I don't know of a "really" clean burning powder anyway... Besides, I clean my pistols after every shoot. I look at it as an extension of my hobby...
It helps a person to become "one with the gun"...

I like Tightgroup. It's given me great results from every size bullet I've reloaded. Plus its a lot cleaner than Unique.

Sure heard a lot of good about Tightgroup and I believe I would use it if I wasn't so infatuated with Unique. Unique was the first powder I ever used 30 years ago and I've had pretty good luck it with over the years... Now that Alliant has taken over the Hercules line, they have supposedly redesigned Unique into a cleaner burning powder. I've yet to try the Alliant stuff as I'm still working off of my Hercules stock... Knowing me, I'll probably give the Alliant a try once the older Hercules Unique is gone...

P88, what kind of a load do you use in your 9mm with Tightgroup? How much volume does it occupy in the case?

I usually shoot a 147gr bullet and use about 3.5 gr of Titegroup. It doesn't fill up the case very much.

I've used titegroup in almost all of my handguns and it has consistently given me the best accuracy out of them all. From .380acp to 10mm and everything in between. I need to try it in my .44 Mag one of these days.

Tightgroup is good stuff. But I guess old habits die hard. I too started with Unique almost 20 yrs ago and have stuck with it ever since. Far too universal. Shotgun, .38, .45Colt. .45/70 and now my 9mm. All I have to do is buy one powder and I am set. As far as dirty...uh, huh. But when I shoot cowboy loads it is considered the smokeless "black powder."

But I too clean my stuff after every shoot so no big deal. And I like the way it fills the case. Really important for those big .45Colt and .45/70 cases.

Hmmm, someday I might have to try Titegroup. It does sound great... I do appreciate the input... I've never loaded 147 grainer's before. I'm just too cheap to buy them as the 115's are so cheap. The 147's do have the best precision out of both my Sig's and my Walther's... It'll be awhile however as I've got around 5G (yet to be loaded) of the 115's to shoot up... I could use some help, so if either of you are in the neighbor hood, give me a shout...

You've found the reason I use the 147's, because I too get better accuracy out of them.

Yeah, I should reload the 147'rs. I use them for my carry. The RA9T is my choice, and I shoot them enough to know exactly what they do, but I'm just too cheap to reload the 147's! I may just use it as a psychological excuse. With the 115's I can always say, I'd of done better with the heavier bullet!

I have loaded 147 gr LNRP and use 3.5 grains Unique. I use this when I shoot steel but not for USPSA because it doesn't have enough of a power factor for competition. It doesn't fill up much of the case but it doesn't have to with the heavier bullet.
