I assume you are talking about the .40S&W... since blue foloowers were not used on the 9mm......
some say the mag bodies of the SW99 mags are not as good as the P99 mags (blueing not as bright) but to tell you the truth.... for the money you pay (half or even less of a P99 mag) I would not look twice and get the SW99 mags....

My understanding is that Mac-Gar makes the mag bodies for the P99 and SW99.... then Walther and S&W make their own follower and baseplate.....
I have not heared of any reports about problems for the SW99 mags....
10 round P99 mags had some issues with baseplates cracking....

I dont know if it is just because mine is a compact, but both the mags that came with my p99c 9mm have blue followers
wow... that is interesting......
what year is it and did you get it new ??
*edit.........FWIW all my 9mm P99c mags are black

All of my P99 9mm mags are also black. All the SW99 mags I've seen have the white follower.
I had ordered from CDNN some SW99 mags way back when.....which I returned since they were used and not new as advertised........ they had the red follower...
they have both colors, white and red for the S&W mags

I wonder if that indicates a change to the P99 9mm folloowers... of if they just changed the color for better visibility....
