I had a chance to shoot my P99 QA and LOVE it, by far my favorite pistol.

I had a question about field stripping the P99 tho.
The maunal says to just hold the grip and pull down on the takedown catch. Should I be doing that? Or should I do it the way that I take down my Glocks- pulling the slide slightly back (1/8" or so) first? The takedown catch seems to move down much easier by pulling the slide back a little, but the instructions don't mention that.

Opinions?

when I disassemble.... hold the rear of gun, behind the grip, with my thumb and wrap my fingers over the top of the slide. I pull the slide back just a little to relieve pressure on the takedown latch, just like you say.

I don't think it'll do any harm, as long as you're not pulling the slide back far enough to cock the striker. I think you're supposed to decock before assembling anyways, right?
