How long should the battery last in a venom red dot

Hard to say Connie. The Vortex manual doesn't indicate how long the battery will last, just that in 'auto mode' the unit will timeout and shut down after 14 hours.

The battery should last well over a year.

BUT, if the battery cover comes lose, it will turn off.
