I am saving up for either a pps or a QA and was wondering if the QA has the "double strike" capability in case of a non-fire the first go round? Thanks.

Neither the PPS nor the P99/QA have the second strike capability

Thanks for the info.

I posted this question in the pps thread but may as well ask again: Does anyone know if the pps will have the ambidextrous slide release? I have not seen it mentioned so I would assume no.

Well lets make sure we are on the same sheet of music here

  • P99/AS is a traditional DA/SA which in case of a light primer goes back to DA

  • P99/QA has partially precocked striker and there is no second strike capability in case of a light primer, you ned to tab/rack in order to get back in the game

  • P99/DAO is a traditional DA every triggerpull, this one does not even have a decocker as the striker decocks itself each time the slide moves back and forth

The P99/QA sometimes gets listed as a DAO just like some say the Glock is a double action since by bulling the trigger you finish cocking the striker completly, however the P99/QA does not have second strike capability

So, in the case of such a misfire in a pistol without second strike capability, should not the pistol be continually pointed downrange for several seconds or more before opening the breech in case the primer has a delayed spark?

Ummm well there is three answers to that in my book

  • you can do this while at the range.... and think it is needed
  • you can pull the slide back about 1/8th of a inch to partially recock the striker again and then pull the trigger again
  • if you use the gun in "combat" you best train tab/rack over and over to have muscle memory to do this... you don't want to waist any time

this is the short version ...... and the tab/rack might not be a bad idea to train even for self defense situations with DA/SA or true DAO guns ...
I never been in such a situation but I feel like the first thing one would do is pull the trigger automatically again which is part of the reason all my guns but the two P7M8's I have are DA/SA.... but who knows
