PPS FE

Picked up my PPS FE on Friday. Shot about 150 rounds though it...flawlessly. Input from other buddies: "That is a pea shooter, you could just throw rocks." "Tupperware gun" "This is great, where do I get one?" "Like the 3 mags and the backstrap option".
So I guess it is mixed reviews but most of my buddies are pretty opinionated :)
Now for the hunt for a holster. Which is how I found this forum. Nice to be here.

Welcome to the Forum.....
so the guys that call it pea shooter ? Did they fire the PPS or just looks at it ?
Probably wouldn't hurt to contact the holster makers like Kramer, Alessi et.... and ask them when. I know when I called Kramer they said they'd had no demand for it and until they did no holsters would be produced.

Nice little pea shooter isn't it ?

you'll get that about the 9mm cartridge alot. after it, it's the bare minimal and marginal at best.....

 Ah, yes, one of the "old experienced hands of the gun world", I see.
Tell your bud to gather up a handful of stones and walk about about 30 feet. Slap in a mag. Let's see how well that "throw rocks" stuff stands up to reality.
The tupperware thing is funny. I always ask if they know where that comment came from. Most people say "because its a plastic gun" which isn't really true. The Glocks and then even 1911s came in cases that were built much like tupperware containers.

Ask them if they feel the same way about HK USP's

As for the 9mm, ask them why it takes the avarage 45 ACP 5" of barrel to penetrate as deeply as most 3-4" 9mms.

The 9mm is only good on woman and cats, its been know to bounce off of larger dogs and the only evidence Ive seen of it ever stopping a adult male was on Ripleys Believe It or Not.

That's funny.:D
Do the folks that made the comments carry a gun all the time? This one was made for concealment otherwise why spend company dollars making such a thin little gun that is fairly light when a heavy and cumbersome one will usually shoot better...

Most people I have shown the gun to are amazed that this gun is so thin and that it almost feels like a toy compared to thier big fat steel .45 they keep in thier dresser drawer. If they ever wanted to carry thier gun they would have to get a full shoulder harness and a winter jacket to hold and cover thier unwieldy beast.

This one has a purpose. I am sure those folks are overlooking that part as they just have the mentality that bigger=better and more substantial. I bet I could defend myself much better and faster with the small and light PPS that thier fat and heavy .45...

Funny, but I will have to disagree. Pulled this up off another site,

OSS = % one shot stop

Now we all know that shot placement is the key. That being said, the .40 is only marginally better than a 9mm. AND at 12 + 1 in the .40 and 16 + 1 in the 9mm, I have 4 more chances at shot placement w/o having to reload. And if you do the math, clip for clip, the 9mm has more stopping power. And on a final note, why would you only fire once??

OSS has nothing to do with choosing to fire once. It is a compilation of shootings where only one shot was fired. How else could you compare ammo effectiveness ? Those compilations are frequently subject to unfair critical comments by people who do not understand them. What good would a comparison of 2 different rounds be, if one victim was shot 5 times and the other only once ? Even considering the potential statistical invalidity for different reasons it does give some insight into the relative stopping power of various rounds when one shot was fired
Obviously Wightwing's tongue was in his cheek when he bemoaned the ineffectiveness of the 9mm. In full dress from full-length barrels the 9mm, 40 cal, 45 acp etc... are all similar in their ability to stop people. I happen to like 9mm too .

It was not my intention to start a flame, or the stats of OSS or penetration, etc. My main point was that the 9mm is similar enough to the .40 that 1) stopping someone has more to do with placement, and 2) a 9mm typically has more bullets.

That being said, I even asked why you would only fire once; part rhetorically, and part to emphasize many of us train to at least double tap.

All that being said my bedside gun is still an s/w .357 mag. You can never go wrong with a good ole reliable revolver that shoots really big bullets J/k :)
