I read this on another fourm. Thought might be of interest to those with a PPK/S like my self.

ARE YOU READY   "My best freind owns a ppk/s which is stainless but that is not what th s stands for,the s means it has a slam pad mag which adds about a 1/2 inch to the length of the grip.He says it is long enough for his big hands,that enables him not to get bit " 
Can you belive this I mean why would someone tell somebody that.

Seriously, I heard the "s" stands for "special", which Walther named it when they designed it to replace the PPK to beat the '68 Gun Act pistol diminsion rules. The resulst was a much more pleasant gun to shoot, without the slide bite.

I wonder if his friend is a "gun shop salesman" ?? Who else could think up "slam pad"
