I was looking around at some aftermarket grips for my new PPK/S. I was wondering if any of you have aftermarket grips and what you would suggest. My PPK/S is stainless so I want something either black or in a deep cherry (or similar dark colored wood). I was also looking at these Pachmayr Signature rubber wrap around grips. Have any of you ever shot a PPK/S with these grips? They look very comfortable. It also looks like an easy solution to the rough steel problem on the S&W without needing to sand it.

Here are the Pachmayr grips:

These are some of the wood grips I've found:

Can only help you with this. Buy a hardwood grip, something like bocote or pink ivory. Hard as "steel". Strip the finish with a citrus-based stripper. Then dye it black with Dick Blick's india ink. Refinish with several applications of tung oil.

Easy to refinish the dings and if you want to go back to the original color, use the citrus-based stripper.

Upon further research I've found that the Pachmayr grips will not work on the S&W made PPK/S. I'm probably going to end up sanding the edges smooth afterall.

I found some really nice looking grips on http://www.gungear.com/cgi-bin/ez-catalog/cat_display.cgi?25X300536 . I wanted the Cherry Wood grips but they're sold out. I decided to go with the Rosewood Eagle grips. They have the Walther logo and the Walther eagle on them. Nice thing is they only fit the S&W made PPK/S.

I'll be sure and post before/after shots and report on any improvements.
