My new S&W blue .380 PPK has a recoil spring that is the dickens to get off when cleaning.
Is this common and is there any particular trick to getting it off?
Did not want to force it too much.
TIA

I can't get mine off either unless I twist the spring off. Twist one way and it tightens its grip on the barrel, tighten the other way and it loosens and will come off quite readily.

Ditto for me. Kinda neat that it doesn't just fall off the barrel. :D
Yeah. I tend to clean my guns at the coffee table with some newspaper spread out and I don't know how many time I've had a spring fall off and either get covered with dog hair (I love 'em but they shed like crazy) or get oil on something I don't want dirty.
