I can't get mine off either unless I twist the spring off. Twist one way and it tightens its grip on the barrel, tighten the other way and it loosens and will come off quite readily.
Yeah. I tend to clean my guns at the coffee table with some newspaper spread out and I don't know how many time I've had a spring fall off and either get covered with dog hair (I love 'em but they shed like crazy) or get oil on something I don't want dirty.Ditto for me. Kinda neat that it doesn't just fall off the barrel.
