I just acquired this WW2 PP. It has matching numbers on the slide, frame, and magazine. All the numbers have been defaced although they are still quite legible. I have been told the numbered mag might indicate Luftwaffe issue, but the absence of waffenamts seems odd. Any thoughts about this gun? I have seen serial numbers scratched off of 1911 souvenirs, but who might want to do that to a nazi gun? Thanks for any help on my first post here.

Well, I have seen a few WW2 era magazines without Waffenampts... and the serial stamp on the magazine does look original so from my knowledge I’d say it probably was a Luftwaffe magazine stamp. (or at least done at the factory)

I am certian you are all legit with it, but just be cautious of a weapon with defaced serial number- just because it could be an excuse to confiscate it in some areas.

I should have been more clear, there are no waffenamts on the gun or magazine.
