Walther offers such a compelling product they're willing to offer an unconditional 30 day money-back guarantee. I know of no other gun manufacturer that will stand behind their guns in such a way. That, to me, is reason enough to get the Walther.

If you're able to rent either of these guns before you buy them, a test drive will tell you a lot more than reading 1,000 opinions.

Couple other thoughts-

~$800 is a big price difference. That's enough to get an optic + competition holsters, mag carriers and a fair amount of ammo.

The other side is if you're very serious about competing, you may blow through so much ammo that the price of the guns is relatively inconsequential. Even if the Walther is only 2%, 1%, half a percent better - it might help you get a better score and be worth it.

A lot of guys are really, really satisfied with their Caniks and I think Canik is willing to offer a lot more variety than Walther in terms of finishes and models.
