I was exchanging the standard barrel on my P99 with the Earl's threaded barrel the other day. When I put the pistol back together, I somehow forgot to put the guide rod/spring into place before adding the barrel and slide to the frame. Yes, I'm an idiot.

I immediately realized what I had done, but couldn't remove the slide. the slide is now positioned about 1/4" back from where it should be on the frame and I cannot remove it, even when pulling fairly hard. Anyone ever heard of this problem? Maybe I'm the first numbnuts to do this....

try putting the pistol in a gun vice, then oull down on the slide release, while pushing the slide foward.dont let go of the slide release.or you can try a rubber mallet and GENTLY tap the barrel foward.hhmmm, let me go to my lab and see if i can reproduce that.brb

assembly???

Is it possible to move the slide back? Is it unloaded?

If you're a 1/4 in back, you may be engaging the cocking assembly. It won't disassemble while cocked. If you could cycle it back and then decock or pull the trigger. Then try to tear down.
