Hello!
I?m new to this forum so forgive me if I ask a questions that has been previously answered.
I purchased a used Walter p99 and I would like to purchase a light that hooks onto the rail.
I?ve read that the original P99 and the newer P99s don?t have the same rail.
Without purchasing a rail mounted light how do I know if it will fit my P99?
Is there a way of telling what year my P99 was made?

You can tell the age of your Walther by the date code on the barrel or frame

A B C D E F G H I K
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

so "AD" would make it a 2003 or "KK" a 1999
The change of the rail came in 2004 ...... anything from 2004 on has a open rail and before 2004 they had the closed rail

there is a "railadaptor" you can use, that is made by Walther's parentcompany Umarex.....

Here it shows the rail adaptor and the light (LAS/TAC light) that you can buy for the closed rail ... however at this point I would consider the laser/light combo for the closed rail....
It is called Blast-2 and you can get that for closed or open railed P99's
also there is the BA6 laser that is shown in some places with a mount to host a flashlight......

I think the M-5 is the only light you can get for the rails. You can also get a TLR for it with a rail I believe.
The M5 light, which I have, only works on the frames made from 2004 and newer.

With the modified rail adapter, U are probably still limited in the same way - the M5 and the TRL.
