I am not for sure on this, but i think the second stage you are feeling is the mechanism that raised the firing pin up so that the hammer will strike it.  That's the design and there is no way to get around it.  I will know more about it in a couple days when I receive my SOG P5

Sounds great. You may be right about Earls, I saw that there is a kit with a reduced power firing pin raising spring (sorry for the techno babble), which would reduce that second stage some, but I don't know if it would make that much of a difference. My P5 is the best shooting 9mm I have ever shot, period! My P99 is a little more accurate, but only by a fraction. No glock or sig that I have owned has come close.
