There is a small metal (steel?) button on the left part of the slide, just BEHIND the notch and apparently for re-enforcing the edge of the notch where the slide lock engages.  This button is abrading the frame slightly.

I have noted that after about 300 rounds through my P22 (got it 3 wks ago), there is considerable wear around that button on the slide itself and also where the button comes into contact with the frame pieces. I clean the P22 after every range session.

Have others noticed this also? Just want to know if this is normal.
My P99 9mm slide & frame seem much more robust at 450 rounds, no excessive wear.

I have the same wear on my P22. I was concerned about it until I read about others having the same wear marks. My brother was shooting mine last weekend, and he must have pulled down the slide release, fired the next shot, and the slide went downrange. I put it back together, and he continued to shoot, with no trouble.
Here is were you can read about others with the wear marks.
