I am either going to buy a 99 or 990 whats the major advantages to each version? Are there any things I need to look for? I have found a 990 with the silver slide for $500 used, but it has about 7-8 flecks of rust on the slide, (from the guys not wiping it down after being handled, i think) is this a good deal or a rip off? thanks for all the info.

Most folks don't care for DAO pistols. The additional trigger pull on every round makes them harder to be accurate with for many shooters. I personally would stick with the standard version.
As to price, I bought a NIB Titanium 9mm last week from my local dealer for $509.00. I think that's about right. He has a blued 40 CAL for $499.00.
If you buy a 40, make sure it has all the German proof marks on it & the Walther test target. I hear there are some out there which have a slide made by S & W. I do not know how this effects the reliability of the gun, probably not at all, but it will definately effect the value. The 40 I saw was all German made.

extremist, Well I bought the gun because I wanted a 9mm & that's the only one I have seen locally for quite some time. I would have gotten a blued model if they had one. Now that I have it, I am starting to like the look. It shoots like a dream. I have several HKs & Sigs. This pistol ranks right up there with any of them. I have been considering making it my CCW.
