I just received a PP with an overstamped proof mark on the slide – looks like there is a eagle on top of the crown (or vice versa). The barrel has two eagles – one on the chamber and one on the end. Anybody has any idea what this could mean? I expected this to be an early pre-war model based on serial number and 90-degree safety but now I am not so sure.

The crown is the earlier one. It's been reproved under the 1939 law for some reason - typical reason would be a major repair, or bbl replacement.
