Wait for the black.
Easy for me since I'm sitting here asking myself: P99, P22, PPS? PPS, P99,
P22? ...

Get 'em both. You can never be too rich, nor too thin, nor have too many Walthers. :D
well the "too many walthers" sorta negates the too rich part lol ...

I have a black one preordered from earls...so i guess i COULD get the FE one... hmmmm
Let me ask this question, why were you wanting to wait for a black one? What advantage did you see over the FE?

Personally, the only advantage I saw was the looks, but after seeing the first edition in person it became a minor advantage. I like the extra magazine included with the first edition. Current MSRP prices mean that the price difference is about nothing if you add an extra mag to the price of the standard PPS. The case is nice, but did not influence my decision either way and finally, the first edition is available now as opposed to sometime in the future.

I can understand wanting one with the more discreet import markings, but that will likely require an even longer wait than the normal all black PPS since I am sure that you are not the only person to preorder a PPS from Earl.

just looks.... that was my only criteria over the FE one...
i just have this little thing about buying guns i dont find attractive.
in this modern day world of tacti-plastic, lots of folks forget that in the old days, guns were a thing of beauty..... some still are
Understand, I have seen many guns that I consider a thing of beauty. Strangely enough, I don't own any of those guns. At least not any that I consider a thing of beauty based on looks. I find that I am hard on things guns included and worry about stuff other than looks at this point. Also, as I have said here before, the first editions look much nicer in person than they do in pictures. If the shop owner doesn't already have a buyer for that PPS I would go and look at the gun in person. I think you will be pleasantly suprised.

the main reason i would buy a FE today and not wait for black is because i have no idea how long it would take to ever see a black PPS. simply not willing to wait indefinitely. if someone would say Fall or early 2008 or 10 weeks or something [in]definitive, maybe i can consider, but i'm one of those consumers who dislike vaporware. luckily i don't care for the 40cal but my guess is, it's going to be painful. just a guess.

i maybe purchase the FE tomorrow. that the risk i'm willing to take. if i finally spot a black PPS in january and i like it, i make the adjustments.

Agreed, much nicer in person. I was looking for a Keltec, saw a Kahr and bought the PPS... Go figure! The case, mags and Walther rep were the main selling points for me.

Good luck with your search!
