It sounds like you did everything I know of to go take it to shoot!! Have fun! Old grips won't fit the new Smith and Wesson version. I ordered my new pair from eagle grips. A pretty ebony wood - turned out real nice - I highly recommend them. www.eaglegrips.com

I know eagle grips has several styles made just for the S & W version of the PPK/S - they fit mine perfectly. www.eaglegrips.com
