I just got my new SW PPK in stainless yesterday. First new gun I have gotten. I have a few questions:
1) I removed all of the protective grease on it and did a thourough cleaning/oiling. Anything else I should do before I take it to the range?
2) Should there be a breaking-in time at all?
3) I have pachmyr(sp?) signature grips that I love on my interarms W.German PPK/S. I noticed the grips will not fit on the PPK. I also notice that the handle of the frame is made different on the SW (no backside of handle of frame). Are the new PAchmyr grips fitting the SW ppk?

thanks ~dialectik

It sounds like you did everything I know of to go take it to shoot!! Have fun! Old grips won't fit the new Smith and Wesson version. I ordered my new pair from eagle grips. A pretty ebony wood - turned out real nice - I highly recommend them. www.eaglegrips.com

No break-in period needed. I took my new blued S&W PPK out the the box, cleaned and lubed and off to the range. I've been shooting the heck out of it for the last week and half or so.....0 malfuntions. She runs like a swiss watch.

This is by far one of the wisest gun purchases I've made. It's nice to have 100% confidence in a carry gun.

Took it to the range yesterday, shot 100 rounds (winclean) and I'm happy to report no jams, no problems!

The only complaint I have on it was that the rear sight was a bit to the left, and I had to punch it into alignment as it was shooting to the left a bit.

Other than that, it was great!

Grip fit seems to be a problem for the S&W PPK/S. I had a lot of trouble with the ones that came from S&W with the gun, but I managed to fix them up with a bit of epoxy. All the reliability problems I had were related to the poor fit of the grips.

I took it to the gun show and tried at least 10 different grips - of which, none fit properly. So I would definately not order any grips over the internet without being able to try them for fit.

The PPK and PPK/s are different frames, regardless if they are Walther or S&W made. The grips are not interchangeable.
