At a gun show today, a dealer told me that Walther is coming out with a new P99 model. A sub-compact pistol smaller than the current compact. I didn't get any details from him as he was very busy with customers.  He may have meant S&W rather than Walther. Any one heard of this?

I sincerely hope they make it in a traditional trigger. The DA pull on the walther leaves a great deal to be desired.

Are the size specs about the same as the smith?

You can count on it being identical to the S&W aside from the Walther cosmetic treatment of the slide.

...not that there is anything inferior about the S&W's.

The only real difference is that the Walther will be more expensive.

That P99 compact is a nice looking gun. I hope it's as well made as the regular P99 and priced around a Glock. I wonder how long untill we see a 40 in it though.

Since S&W already has a .40 Compact, you can be pretty sure the announcment will be for both a .9mm and .40 Compact.
