New 99

Well, I went and ordered a new Smith & Wesson 99 compact today. It should be in on Wed. They had a .40 cal in stock already, but I want to stick with a 9mm.

I really wanted the Walther version, but it's damn near impossible to find any Walther p99s around here, let alone an older a/s model.

I'm hoping to go to a big gun show in Houston and maybe find a military colored Walther p99 a/s FULL size. But, I rented a S&W at the store 2x and I was satisfied enough with it. I'm selling my Glock 26 and plan to replace it with this new gun as my primary carry gun.

Anyway, I'll give a range report when I get a chance to shoot it next weekend

Just got back from the range earlier this morning. Bought my p99QA last Friday - put 600 rounds through it so far and not one problem. Quite happy with it, though since it is my first gun I don't have much to compare it to, but my "gun friends" have all said I made a good choise after they shot it.

Welcome to the club

Thanks. Unless I would buy one online, I couldn't get a Walther. And even then, most places only have the newer quick action trigger.

I rented a full size 99 at the range here 2x (they only charge $5 for rentals), and I liked it a lot. Next month, I hope to get the full size too.

When I shot my Glock 26 a week ago, I decided that I wanted to get something new. The Walther/Smith and Wesson finish is comparible, which is good because I carry a lot in the summer and like having a gun I don't have to oil down contantly.

I've heard a lot of good things about the compact, so I am looking forward to trying it out. Unfortunately, because of work, even though I'll get it Wed, I gotta wait all the way until Sat to actually shoot it

ShipWreck, if not too late for you to use the info, I also wanted the Walther P99C in 9mm with the AS trigger, asked a local shop to find one for me and within a couple of days got one in. I asked him what distributor he got it from and i thought he said "Jerry's", thought he also said something about the distributor shipping it out of a different warehouse location than he originally thought, so may be one of the larger distributors that has multiple warehouses. Cost to me was $525. Let me know if you want and I'll try to get the exact name and tel number of the distributor.
I appreciate it. But, I've already put 15% down on the gun topday. I never pay it in full until I get it in and see it, but ya gotta put that down before they will order.

It's okay, I'm satisfied with what I am getting.
Jerry's has multiple locations around the country.

Good folks to do business with
Well, then, maybe I would like their contact info. I wanna get a full size Walther p99 A/S in military green, and have had no luck. I wa hoping to find one in Houstin at the Reliant gunshow next month (it was cancelled because of the New Orleans situation, but now its back on).

That's pretty much my only hope to get one now...
Unless you have an account with jerry's they won't speak with you.

They are strictly wholesale and deal only with FFL dealers.

This is from Jerry's "dealer inventory web site. (price with held per dealer agreement)

Jerry's has AS and QA models in stock.
both compact and standard. Military and Black models are in stock

They give model numbers but not year of manufacture.

Based on the wide spread of prices I think some of the guns may be older models that are still in stock. They do have AS models in green frame and black frame
I've got an FFL that does just that. What's the URL for Jerry's?
