I bought this 1911 model used. When I fire it I get blowback and peppered by small particles. I'm grateful this is only a .22. I don't think the slide is going into battery after each shot. I have shot Winchester Super X and CCI in it. I replaced the spring and the magazine. Any thoughts as to a solution?

Does it happen every time with every mag? Which CCI ammo are you using?

Are you chambering the first round by pulling the slide back and letting it go ("slingshot")?

Have you disassembled and cleaned it? Look closely at the chamber. There may be a build-up of deposits in the chamber that are stopping the round from fully chambering.

Compare the slide's position at the rear of the receiver when you close it on an empty chamber (should sit flush with the back of the receiver) and when you ease the slide closed with a round in the chamber without a magazine inserted.

Any difference?
