Now I don't know much about those ..... so pardon my question,, but why is the mag extension brown ?

Older ones like that came that way. Not sure why - just was.

It's also one of the first things to look for when viewing a supposedly Pre-68 PPK.

I have a question about differences in coloring. Last weekend I found a 32cal PPK with box, rod, and manual at a pawn shop that had the opposite coloring from yours. Grips were brown and mag extension was black. Marking on barrel says 1966 manufacture and there was no country marking - no West Germany, no Germany. Price seems reasonable but I'm not personally a fan of 32 cal. Is it worth picking up. Price was $550.

Weird about the grips. My '68 ppk in.32 has brown mag and grips. Maybe the pictured grips are off a later gun as they are marked interarms. I would say mismatched colors are the result of their not being original.

Most probably Walther in trying to get everything out the door, before the 68 GCA kicked in shipped everything with the parts they had on hand.......don
