Hi Y'all. New user, long time reader. So I recently acquired a Pre WWII Walther PP Zella-Mehlis (Thur) chambered in 7.65 mm (AKA .32 acp). I'm guessing it was manufactured sometime during 1938, Serial #:107XXX P). It had the standard Crown/N on the right side of the frame and right above it on the barrel itself, visible thru the ejection port. Asides from that, there are no other post-manufacture engravings that should be present. Also, it seems that the safety block on the Walther was either removed or altered because the safety lever does not decock the hammer when switched. I will post as many photos as possible in hopes I can find out as much as possible about this relic's history/worth and why the safety lever/de-cocker doesn't work and how it can be fixed and/or what part/s I'll need. Looking forward to hearing from you guys and good luck!

Safe Shootin',

Hyphymikey

Thanks for the info Martin, its much appreciated. Is there any reliable source you could recommend to me that would have that part for the Zella-Mehlis (Thur) PP models? Also, how can if the piece is altogether missing or simply worn down?

The hammer release (part 31 acc. to attached part list) is missing or worn out. Please note the fact, that at least nine different variations are available. Should be repaired by a good gun smith.

Another question, even though the hammer release is missing or worn out, will the safety drum, if engaged, still block the firing pin from firing the cartridge?

Safety should function correctly.

Your gun was chromed (refinished). If the hammer release is existing, you can see it from above (frame, slide detached). Part is still available, f.e. https://waffen-teile.de/epages/bd8b5356-6d23-464f-965e-8301a3c7e25e.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/bd8b5356-6d23-464f-965e-8301a3c7e25e/Products/PPK-1014 . But remember: It has to be fitted by a good gun smith to propper function. You may contact Earls repair (he could also have the part on stock, but Earl is expensive).
