So,...
When is Walther going to make a 5" barrel hammer fired steel frame 9mm pistol?

Probably about the time Ford brings back the flathead V-8.
God I hope not, the flathead, while iconic, was a terrible design pushed down the throats of the Ford engineering staff by Henry, because he wanted a "simple" engine. Henry was still smarting that time passed his Model T by. If Henry's engineers had their way, Ford probably would have introduced an overhead valve V8 to the public in the 1932 Model B, instead of that overheating, outdated at launch flathead. Exhaust ports in the cooling jacket indeed... Madness.

As to a hammer fired, steel frame modern 9mm pistol... How much would you be willing to spend? And more importantly, how many potential buyers are there out there for such a pistol? The price on a Walther all steel striker fired 9mm is already pretty high, make it a more complex hammer fired weapon, and you are going to be butting heads with the boutique 1911 manufacturers, and Dan Wesson's DWX, and the higher end CZ products. Is there room for another player in that already saturated market?
